New York City is littered with great coffee shops, with the third wave coffee scene exploding even more in the past few years. There seems to be new coffee shops opening up all the time with craft coffee being a favorite. Here are my top picks:-
KAFFE 1668 - 401 Greenwich St - I wish I could keep this a secret but its too good not to share - my absolute favorite in TriBeCa. From its quirky interior with sheep lined walls, to its extensive food menu, there are so many reasons why I love Kaffe 1668. The space is beautiful with high ceilings and ample seating . There is no wifi here, making it the ideal place to meet with friends or get lost in a book.
WHERE TO DRINK
LA COLOMBE COFFEE ROASTERS - 270 Lafayette St - With multiple locations, La Colombe is made by people who really understand coffee and they're possibly brewing the best coffee in New York. Although its busy, staff really help you choose the right cup. The coffee is smooth and velvety and the cafe is flooded with lots of natural light, making it a perfect place to relax after shopping in SOHO.
CAFE ALULA - 252 Franklin St, Brooklyn - A cute Lebanese cafe in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, with an outdoor patio, serving delicious food, coffee and specialty drinks. Try the rose matcha and tahini latte - creative and delicious.
BAKERI - 105 Freeman St, Brooklyn - a rustic-chic neighborhood bakery and cafe, again in Greenpoint. The space is small with one big communal table and a couple of smaller tables. Their pastries and baked goods are something to remember!
HAPPY BONES NYC - 394 Broome St - A hip, minimalist, industrial style coffee shop with local art and national publications for coffee-drinking viewing. This is a place where creatives in the city meet, being served a variety of coffee with all the milks.
SEVEN GRAMS CAFFE - 275 7th Ave - an independent coffee shop with premium coffee and artisan pastries in a space with ample seating and a laid back vibe.
SUPERMOON BAKEHOUSE - 120 Rivington St - No trip to New York is complete without a visit to Supermoon Bakehouse. As well as really good coffee, they serve creative croissants, cruffins and donuts that will leave you wanting more.
REMI FLOWER & COFFEE - 906 2nd Ave - A flower shop and cafe hybrid, serving amazing coffee with specialty drinks like rose and lavender lattes.
URBAN BACKYARD - 180 Mulberry St - A tiny coffee shop that is environmentally friendly filled with lots of plants. They serve a great ube latte as well as all your caffeine favorites.
VARIETY COFFEE ROASTERS - 261 7th Ave - It's hard finding a table at this Parisian style cafe, but once you do, it's even harder for you to empty that seat. The coffee is strong and earthier to the taste, with pastries also on offer. The big windows make this the ideal place to people watch from.
SALTWATER COFFEE - 345 E 12th St - An Australian style coffee shop tucked away in the East Village with lots of light and window seating. Saltwater also serve specialty drinks, including their masala chai - the best I have tasted outside of Indian homes!
BIRCH COFFEE - 21 E 27th St - A local coffee shop chain in Flatiron, in a hip and bustling space with friendly service. Another place where the crowd seldom dies down, with nearby office workers spilling in by the dozens to feed their morning and afternoon craving.
FELIX ROASTING CO - 450 Park Avenue South - This one of a kind coffee shop serves artfully crafted coffees and cocktails, with an opulent interior. They also have a food menu and pastries from Supermoon Bakehouse.
Many coffee shops are cashless, taking card only. If you are having coffee to go, you can have them fill your own cup up.
